Observation research

To identify the various locations, spots that held potential for the library to work a quick observation tour around the city was made.

The areas can be broadly categories, as coming under…

i) Transit zones: Bus stops, railway stations, metro starions, tram stops.

ii). Market/ commercial zones: local markets, super markets, market complexes, shops

iii). Open public areas (open air): City squares, cross roads, courtyards, gardens, lobbies, parking spaces

iv). Waiting zones (semi enclosed): At a hairdresser, a doctor, at the municipality etc

Few others like the hospitality and education zones which could also be considered for library intervention were not studied in detail, as they cater to a niche target group. The idea in this project is to have ‘easy access’ for the general public.
